Aboriginal People have for thousands of generations
used music and song as a means of passing on history. It's a vital part
of everyday life. Traditional songs are an important part of passing on
the stories of the Dreamtime. Some performed at sacred ceremonies and can
only be performed and witnessed by initiated men or women, others are performed
at ceremonies such as initiations, and others are for pure entertainment.
Traditional instruments in most common use are the didgeridoo and music
sticks. In modern communities more contemporary sounds with a mix of Country
style music can also be heard.
